Craig,

I have a nice clean bog standard 1300cc that might do the trick and stop you twisting the spring plates when you put your boot into it.

Will follow the resto with interest.

Well done

Craig,
Looks like an outstanding start to the project!
What a difference this method makes....and it's my understanding this is much less abrasive in term of removing rust and scale and preserving much more of the original metal.
The before and after pics are very impressive.
You are going to have an excellent base to prime and finish.
:tu:

Steve

Good stuff, watching the resto with interest.

What was the name of that crowd that did the handbrake cables for you some years ago.?

Craig,
You are off to a fantastic start....and I might add you appear to sparing no expense at getting off on the right foot from the beginning.
I am following this with great interest also.
Can you give us a ball park figure on what all that prep working is costing you? Please understanding I'm not trying to pry or be unduly nosey.....just curious as to what an outstanding start such as this might run.
Looks like all the big stuff is getting done. You plan the same treatment on all the smaller parts as well?

Regards,
Steve

All the spot welds are in the exact same position from the orginal panel, this was achieved by using a stencil to copy their location.

a new 'edge' to provide a nice sharp line as per original as the old one was butchered by a previous owner.

certainly helps starting with a 99% rust free CB, but the $ still add up for body work. I have told them there is to be NO filler in this car, so all dents/panels etc are being prepared using "old school" panel beating.........and thats what this CB deserves:cool:

I pulled the old CB motor apart today, and I'm glad I decided to freshen her up ;)

Looks like it has done a LOT of miles, but overall in good condition. The bottom end has never been apart before, but it has recently had a new mahle 1300 P&B kit installed. Heads are not cracked, but will need new guides and valves.

So now its time to make the 1300 like new :tu:
