The Mythical Steroid Motor...

I gave Stan a call last week about some engine pricing (seeing as everyone recommends him for a 1916cc) and happened to get on to talking about this "steroid" motor that I have herd so much about.

"Stan, what's the normal pricing for a 1916cc set up?"

"$XXXX with new parts... etc"

"Great! Hey, whats the 'steroid motor' I've herd so much about, whats the difference in price and performance?"

Well he just laughed at me - aparently he doesn't build a 'steroid motor', it was just a name given to a beach buggy with a 1916cc + 41 webers on it by a car article many years back, and the motor has been drifting around ever since.

Ok, well perhaps everyone already knew this, but I though it was kinda interesting for people like me who didn't know what this 'steroid' motor was...
Or does someone have a truer story?

Cheers and Big Ears,
Ollie

so, what does stan call he engines..?

having never talked to him, i know very little about them. In regards to 1916 power, im guessing there is the base model, and then it goes up by how much cash you have and how much power you are chasing.

You got it colonel!

He doesn't actually call it anything, just another customer's motor I guess. The base model 1916 that I was wondering about produces around 80hp and will give you a 16 second 1/4. And then obviously it'll move up from there with price vs performance.

Still, interesting bit of trivia...

Haha, yeah man he does have a fair bit to say - at least it's interesting though, I'd hate to have to be glued to the phone over boring info!

Haha, yeah to be fair to Stan I think it's his place to say. Give him a call, he's a top bloke who's more than willing to have a chat about what you want. The price he'll quote for a new 1916 is with pretty much brand new everything with a reconditioned case - it's not too bad!

The price really depends on how far you want to go with it, just pistons can cost anyware from $300 - $1000+ and their and hundreds of other things you can do.
