I've got 2 Sparco Pro 2000's in Jezebel.

According to Sparco's info 595mm wide at the wings.

Was a squeeze to get them in - actually had to have a slight overlap on the wings, so the passenger sits slightly behind the driver.

Picture tells a thousand words.

Overlap is about 3cm...

with about 1cm clearance between drivers wings and door...

.jpg

and 1.5cm for passenger wing and door (since it's back a bit further)

To get zero overlap I would've had the seats not parallel to the center of the car, which decided would've felt odd.

Hi

I helped one of sons friends out with a drift Corrola, it had Bride seats in it, I couldn't believe how poorly they were made compared to my Recaros. Have a real good look at whatever you buy, the Bride runners were particularly crappy.

Good seats really help when your getting up a few Gs, I've found the Honda seats in my sons 1303 quiet good.

I have got Autotechnica seats in mine. http://www.autotecnica.com.au/seats.html  They are tight, but do fit. I can take some photos of the clearances tomorrow if you want, but here is a photo from the side.

I have had a pair of Recaros that have been with me for best part of 20 years, bout from the original Roman Automtive back in the days when thay were in Crows Nest. They were a little bit tightin my 76 and 69, but a nice fit nevertheless. They have acftuallt been in numerous cars since then as well.

One thing I can say, is be sure to buy quality. Not only are these seats comfortable, but they have lasted for years and still look good. Good seast are worth the money!

I've seen Autotecnica seats in a couple of different bugs, and although seem reasonable they're a reclinable street seat - not a fixed back race seat.

All depends what you're wanting the car for obviously on whether the difference is important or not...

I have a Cobra Suzuka GT Width (from when i was 40kg heavier). Will no go to a std width Cobra Suzuka. The the GT is right againts the door, but does not cross the centre line of the tunnel. The driving posistion is offset though.......

Hello There,

This is an old post, but I would like to ask a few questions re: Cobra seats and their rails.

The Classic - it's an old style bucket, no head rest, very low, made for '60's sports cars, like Miidgets, Cobras, and even the Cooper S (not that a Mini is a sports car!) You know the seat - legs stright out to the pedals, gear shifter @ rib height.
Has anyone ever installed this type of seat in their Beetle, or do you know of anyone who has?

I am interestyed i using this type of seat in my Beetle, and would prefer to use the rails that are made for the Cobra Classic.

Two questions, I have.

1 - Is it difficult to install a rail, that is not factory? RE: installation on the floorpan and engineering cert.
2 - Would the seat be too low? RE: the line of sight would be barely over the wiper.

Anyone have an answer or 3?

Thanks,
Bryce
