Front Callipers


Hi Gus,

Im currently running front callipers from a 73 Super.

Is there a larger calliper you can run?

Ive heard stuff about Talbot - but dont know much about them.

Sherman sells a front set that apparently have a larger pad size.. I can't tell you how much bigger though.

Hi

I tried to buy some Talbot ones a few years ago, they don't seem to be around anymore.

The biggest piston size early Type 3 at 42 mm as opposed to 40 mm and it uses the twin pin pad that is also used on the 72 Superbug.

Hi

They are the same bolt pattern as Type 1 calipers, you can pick them easily because they only have one bleed nipple.

Hi

It was one of the 1st things I did on David's car when we bought it, I felt that they bit better. I was going to fit Type 3 rear drums as well but then I decided to go rear discs instead.

Hi

The front callipers just bolt straight on, no adapters or anything. I'm not sure of the increase in size of the Type 3 rear brakes but its quiet large and they work well, CT is using them on the rear of his oval, as have many other VW racers.

my calipers are out in the sun with the paint drying. I will post photos with the pads in later this week!
