Karmann made Ghia headlamps 7 inch..
I really don't know much about Karmann made Ghias and their headlamps... I do know the glass is rounded...
and the US ones just use 7 inch sealed beams...
so, really any sealed beams or semi sealed beams with QH H4 bulbs should fit..
I use semi sealed 7 inch Hella H4's in My beetles...
You would need to buy a pair so they match... lol

Thnx Lee but that is a major job with different adjusters etc.
I will do that if it's the only option!

Sealed beam is slightly different diameter too (from the originals) but many have them fitted. Og is a seperate glass, but rare....good luck with

Hi Yes fitting H4s to a beetle means changing all the adjusters etc too..
but it can be done...
the headlight has to be placed in a two piece round bracket out of an early ford or holden etc with 7 inch headlamps.
Sealed beams would have been used in US Karmann made cars too as it was law in the USA.. all cars had sealed beams.
so, no glass to be had over there...
Europe and the uK...
cheers

I'll have a look to see what I have. I'll be keeping at least one spare for my ghia. If I have one left over, it would be for a early 60's
(1963), euro-style. I'm not sure if they were the same all the way through the years. I won't look for a day or two though!

Thnx guys!
The UK KG club site suggested some VW Heritage cradles to mount in the KG sockets then 7 inch sealed beams. OG chrome rims apparently fit no probs
& you get a quantum leap in lighting efficiency.
Avail from UK's Karmann Konnection. I've emailed them for details. Any one in Melb or Geelong got some for me to look at?
Had a good look today. Don't know how a slight knock from the electrode holder on my stick welder as I turned around could do it but there you go!
The crack has NOT gone thru to the perimeter so I MAY be able to remove it & run beads of Araldite along the cracks from the inside but t'would
look the pits! Good argument for parking WELL AWAY from the garage work bench!

If it's just a crack that dosn't go through to the edge maybe one of those windscreen repairers could do a job on it, maybe.

I finally got around to looking through my bits and pieces. Found the pair of NOS ones I have, but not the originals to my car. I know they are
there somewhere, buts it's been about 5 years since I removed them. They were both OK from memory, but I'd want to have one good one as a spare so
would need to see them before I offload any.
Sounds like Ben (esevwbits) has some anyway.
I'm going through all the bits now in any case, as I'm finally getting around to fixing up my old girl. Let me know if you are still after it.
Cheers, Angus
