What sort of repairing do you need, might be able to help?

they were called trafficators...
never ever called semaphores... except by the Americans...
whose beetles never ever had them...
so, naturally, never knew what to call them...
they were also used on many European and UK made cars...
during the 50's and called trafficators...

When I worked for a (Sydney) VW dealer, 50 or so years ago, we called them semaphore arms.
Cheers, Greg
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Greg you'll have to sit down and write me your VW life story for the Club VW magazine - I would love to publish it.
Trafficators is a British name for the same thing (like spanner/wrench, boot/trunk, windscreen/windshield) - Australia in the 1950s was a lot more
British than American but we seem to have an interesting mix of both.
Lee the US-market Beetles DID have semaphores, up until 1955, when they were replaced by flashing blinkers. Australian models had semaphores until
halfway through 1960.

It's true, it's true. We have semaphores all over the blinking place up here (no pun intended )
