WSID , THIS FRIDAY 8th Jan
I have preped the car and will be heading out to Western Sydney this Friday for a run on a 1/4 mile with the nitrous oxide for the first time . I have
completed 20 passes with the gas over the 1/8 mile so I am confident I have the tune-up correct . I will leave the 140 shot jets in the system to see
if it will run a 9 second pass . I have been getting faster every run as I get used to the extra kick I have at my finger tips . I will be out there
around 4.00pm with a 6.00pm start and would like to get at least 3 good runs in before a transmission swap and engine freshen up before Portland in 6
weeks time , ROD.
More boost + More fuel = More power

Was at the track tonight and Rod said, "I bet this is on AVD before I get home tonight". Well, I dont think Rod would have even left WSID when DB
posted Rods times etc. Me thinks DB had an insider at the track also called Dave (STIDUB)
Good to meet other VW people at the track tonight.
Cheers, Kev

Hi All,
Good to meet those of you that were there tonight. Got some photos; some crap, some crappier. My weight saving decision to leave the tripod at home
was incorrect, especially once it got darker. But you live and learn, and this was my first attempt at drag photography.
So without further excuses here are some photos.
I missed the one run VVDS did, so the only photo I got of them was this one:
Rod doing a burnout
Rod's second launch
Rod's third launch
Rod's fourth launch
The beast
Some of the other runners:
First time I've tried photobucket so if photos are too large or not working please let me know.
Cheers

Sorry I missed the VVDS run and the time. I saw them working on it, but refrained from taking photos as I figured I might (rightly) get the camera
jammed up me.
Colonel I'll see if there are any other decent ones tomorrow.
Dave's right, the top fuel monster was just epic in terms of noise and vibration. I took the above photo of it whilst it was warming up its tyres,
and was getting ready to take a photo of the launch, but then the noise it let out made me jump a mile, so the photo I took missed the car. You know
it's noisy when the skin on your arms feels it.

Rod actually rang me as he left the track.
He could not talk long since he had a sore throat, and sounded horrible.(I actually thought the phone call was a stalker).
He said that his first run was a 10.24(140 hp shot) with some missing,
with mixtures not quite right (bit rich due to warwick safe setting... cant remember?).
The same tune up at warwick was no better than the 100hp shot because the bottle had just about run out.
On the second run it ran with no nitrous,
The third run the car was on n2o intermittently,
which turned out to be the reason for no nitrous on the earlier run
with a screw falling out of the button on the wheel.
Once all that was fixed it ran the 9 sec pass, with what I think he said was a 6.35@111(?)
From what I can remember, that was using the n2o for the full run.
If my memory is correct rod had a 1.217 4th and 4.57 diff with 28" tyre,
so that equates to 8950 rpm,
but I am sure rod will let us know the details if I have anything wrong.
