VW gearstick

Pretty simple question, was taken off and nobody noted on how it goes back together. How does it go back together? The ball just wont stay in the stupid socket!

Any ideas?

Guessing you have a short shit kit

Thick base plate goes under 6

there is a "mushroom" that goes on the gear stick above its mushroom

Make sure 6 is the correct way

Not sure if it has a short shift kit its on a 72 super beetle. ill take a piccy but from the look of it the spring is stuck above the ball socket on the stick and a mushroom thing welded to the stick it just doesnt seem to lock the ball socket in

Make sure that the plate goes on with the little 'ski slope' on the right with the slope going up to the front.

3a looks like a nylon spacer - but I've never seen one on a gearshift.

show us your pics
