Day Of The Drags 2010 – 22 May 2010, Sydney Dragway - Entries open again now!
After the track advising postponing the March 6 event a “rain date” has now been scheduled. DOTD201 & the Sidevalve Shootout will now be held
on Saturday 22 May, 2010 at Sydney Dragway.
Entries Open Now
Cars built prior to 1970 are invited to enter, but they should retain an early appearance. If a car is EFI or turbo then it should not be visible (ie:
under hood). You will be racing against hot rods, customs, early muscle cars and HA/GR dragsters (aka HAMBsters). Flathead powered hotrods will run in
a separate class.
PM me or email info@dayofthedrags.net for an entry form.
The event is low key but lots of fun. We kick off the morning with unlimited runs for all. As fast as you can line up you’ll get another pass.
It’s not uncommon for some folk to get in a dozen or more passes before lunch. After lunch we have DIY eliminations. Between the later rounds we
have grudge racing (both DIY and heads up) and after eliminations, more grudge until finishing time.
Entry is $200. That includes driver, 2 crew and a reasonable number of spectators. Most entrants have their spectators throw in a few bucks to share
the cost around.
If you run 11.99 or under you must have an ANDRA licence. Normal rules for tech inspections for unregistered cars apply. We won't be running anyone
under 10.99 this year to encourage closer matched racing.
We like to keep the day casual, intimate and family friendly.
We aim for 60-70 entrants but will stretch to an absolute maximum of 100 if the “right” cars are entering.
There’s a Tony Martin diorama trophy for best reaction time in the morning session. For the eliminations winner, there is a $500 Shannons insurance
policy and a bucket of gold coins for the runner up (entrants, sponsors and some crew/spectators throw in a couple of bucks at the drivers meeting –
usually adds up to over 200 bucks). A couple of other trophies are awarded for starter’s choice etc. Two perpetual trophies and a $2,000 prize pool
for sidevalve powered full bodied hot rods.
A couple of VWs are already entered.
Dino (Dino’s Pizza Oval) has been a long time supporter and the other entrants are used to being trounced by a bug, so there’s no nose turning or
attitude shown to VW racers. That said, we won’t have the event dominated by them as they weren’t that common at Castlereagh (though they always
performed well there) and that’s the kind of event we have built up over the years. We will limit VW entries to around 6 vehicles.
Dino at DOTD09.

Most likely, send an email to info@dayofthedrags.net for entry forms and suitability.

A few VW entries in now... better hurry up.
Good coverage of the event last year in Nitro!, Cruzin, Dragster and Australian Street Rodder.
Some more quick dubs in there would be good.
