fuel injection from rotary to piston(pictures up)

can i use a motec fuel injection system i bought on a 10a rotary and put on my vw engine?
It has crank angle ignition twin throttle bodies with two injectors in each. Its an older computer probably around 10 years old. It also has a hand tuner that plugs into the computer.

I'll try to put pictures up but m having problems.

you have to cut and paste the html link from photobucket of each photo and then it should work.

I was just gunna say wouldnt it only fire on three clyinders cause the rotor has three sides?

maybe i need a better understanding of how it works but i thought the crank angle sensor made the spark plug fire, so in theory just need a new pully made up for the crank angle sensor?

some rotas have a pretty whacky ignition setup
the one in my bug only had one dissy and coil but i think it was 12As that have 2 distributors and 2 coils so whether that could be adapted to a 4cyl piston engine i'd love to know too

Mazda made the 12a in both single and twin dizzy.
10a's and 13b's had the single dizzy.

Rotaries only fire on one side of the rotor at a time. If the ignition fired on all three sides then it wouldn't rotate.

Interesting throttle bodies, what are they from?
Cheers

Use manifolds from Kadron Carbies.....they should be very close to the throttle bodies.

Let me know, i can get you some and make up adaptor plates if needed. ;)

that's not how it works Josh. There are 2 rotors with 2 spark plugs, a leading and trailing... That's on one side of the engine. On the other see is the intake and exhaust. Rotors usually only have 1 idf/Ida or throttle body.

Technically it is still a four cylinder as all the plugs fire in a set order, and none at the same time.

Twin dizzy - I no longer recall how these work.

thanks craig but don t have any motor to put it on just yet. Want to figure out if i can use it first and if it will cost me an arm and a leg.

Might be better off getting rid of the whole lot and using the money on a new injection system.

I've used an old microtec off a 13b to run a Mitsubishi sirius dash turbo motor before. It worked fine, as has been said the signal from the crank angle sensor tells the ecu when to fire so you should be able to get it to work. Will need to be adjusted/remapped to suit the new motor too obviously.

Yea with a remap it'll work fine. The injector pulses will need remapping too to make you don't over fuel.
Shame there's not 4 throttle bodies so you get one injector per cylinder but the fuel atomization should be better than a carb.

madness is in the eye of the beholder
