Given that it appears that a number of players had dual contracts, you would think some of them will be in trouble, or at the very least their
managers.
The attitude of the Storm players for the rest of the year should be interesting. I can't imagine they'll care all that much.

I bet David Gallop is seeing far more each year of his contract than any of the players.
Time to get rid of the salary cap for players, and instead apply it to the officials.

Kick the Storm out and replace them with the Central Coast Bears. Melbourne can have the Rebels rugby union team instead.
Hardly 'League's Darkest Hour' (headline in today's Tele). The greed and corruption of Superleague, and the crime of kicking out foundation club
South Sydney in 2000, was far worse (well done, News Ltd - I'm enjoying seeing you squirm this time). No one will miss the Storm. Who misses the
Western Reds, the Adelaide Rams, the Hunter Mariners, the Sth Queensland Crushers or any other fabricated News Ltd 'franchises'?

fark the players were just doing the Aussie thing and tyring to make a bit of cash on the side.
Farked if you would want the NRL to run your business , as they seem to be doing their best to go bust.
Its not like the storm or the doggys are Allan Bond or christopher skase.

You think? When the people of the illawarra complain for 20 years that the sydney comp takes all our players. Eventually the Illawarra Steelers come
in. I went to every home game. The most picturesque football field in country. The sideline is 50metres from the shoreline. great setup, the leagues
club is directly across the road.
And then some wanker gave my team and its players away to St George. The only thing that remains of the steelers is the word illawarra on the badge.
Steelers werent kicked out by outsider Rupert Murdoch, they were sold out by one of their own. I just had a look at the team for this weekend. 8
players come from the illawarra, the closest any of them grew up to St George is Mosman. Why are they playing in st george jumpers?

Cameron Smith says "how are we supposed to turn up each week, with no points, and play 80 minutes, and still end up with no points? And go all season
like that?"
Craig Bellamy says "Mate I dunno, I'll go ring Ricky Stewart and ask how he does it."
Agree about Illawarra, they deserve their own team more than Melbourne does. Sadly, footy's no longer a game, it's a 'product'. Clubs are no
longer clubs, they're franchises. And they've forgotten how to do scrums.

have been following this in the news & the work conversations and just a couple of things.
1. Apparently just before the story broke 3 large bets were placed with the TAB for Melbourne to get the wooden spoon... so somebody knew something
was going on ..
2. seems a bit harsh to strip them of the championships, what about all the support people like the trainers, the runners and all the little people
that contributed.... its just a huge slap in the face for them too and that's not right.
if you want to punish them, then for the next 5 or 10 years only let them pick new drafts from local Melbourne clubs then see how they go with out all
the big guns to win for them.
the biggest thing about is that, every team in every code pays for their stars one way or another... Melbourne just weren't good enough at hiding
it.
that's my two cents, feel free to disagree

1. Yes there was a bit on insider trading going on! Bets on the wooden spoon were soon frozen and I believe they have the names of those who placed
those bets, and are investigating.
2. Sorry but stripping them of their ill-gotten premierships was the only right thing to do. They cheated - end of story.
3. There is no AFL-style draft system in rugby league. Maybe there should be ! I would be very surprised if they are still around in 5-10 years; they
can't survive without Murdoch pumping $10 million a year into them. And how is that fair on the other clubs that have to survive without being owned
by News Ltd?
