Fuel pump query - which hose goes where?

Hi folks, just finishing up changing the engine in my bug. Anyone know which connection on the fuel pump goes to the tank / carby?
I gather this is a circa 1974 engine, with the leant-over pump that allows the alternator to fit.

Thanks!

Gary

with the tin top ones the inlet from the tank is the top and the bottom is outlet up to the tank

if you remove the screws on the top theres actually a filter underneath

the old bolt together style like the other have the connections the other way around, outlet on the top
