electrical questions
Only 2 questions;
1/ Fitted an immobiliser alarm (which works sort of) but when I turn it off it will rearm itself and sometimes immobilisers the car 30 to 60 sec
later. Can anyone help?
2/ When I turn the lights on i am constantly blowing the fuse for my dash lights etc. I cannot find the problem but have recently fitted 2 new gauges
(tacho and oil pressure) which were working ok. Again any help would be appreciated?

its not a cyclops alarm is it?
i got one in the mainstreamer and its a standard feature that the immobilisor arms 30 secs after ignition off/ disarming with no ignition on
a real pain in the ass in a car with power windows
or that 30 secs is just long enough to unlock, put groceries in before it rearms
dynamco reckon its an ADR requirement and cant be turned off
yet funny how none of my Rhino alarms do it
have you wired the backlighting in the new gauges to the light circuit?
if it blows instantly you have a dead short.
it maybe one of the bulbs is wired up wrong and grounding the positive side if you have them wired in series

the alarm kit i had locked the car again if it sensed that you hadn't opened your door or put the keys in the ignition.
Is there door opening sensor ability in your kit? (although my vw didn't come with door open sensors... i believe the poms and maybe yanks did?) I
did see their car have em. (like... my 1500 here didn't, but their 1500 bugs did).
Did u get a booklet stating the behaviour of it in relocking?

Apparantly the alarms are required to rearm after 30sec if ignition not turned on, however, it rearms even after I turn the car on. I am assuming I
have got it wrong somehow. Just not sure where it is wrong. also it's a mongoose M20 alarm.
Have been able to solve the problem with the dash lights. I realised I had wired up the tacho wrong by mixing up 2 wires.
Thanks

Gidday Joel,
Yeah that's what I thought but it is where I have gotten lost as I am no electrician and am just muddling my way around. I cut the ignition wire and
ran one end to the relay for the alarm and then the other end to another point on the relay. I think I got this wrong.
By the way thanks for your post on lowering an IRS it helped me a lot in lifting the rear of the baja.
