SniffnOut Barn finds
Hi All, because I am starting up another vDub repair shop here in Geelong Vic, I have been chasing up some vws, today we went for a drive with
tandem trailer in tow, first port of call was Colac where I knew of an early splitty sitting in the middle of a paddock, made enquiries with nearby
industrial estate, bloke says to me, well you are the 51st person to ask about that ol kombi, he tells me that the owner is too attached to it, as
he and his wife went around Australia in it the sixties, his two children who are now grown up were conceived in the back of it and it aint for
sale!! next i head further south to pick up a pre arranged sale (71 bug with iRS rear end, no motor) loaded it on and then told about an elderly
gent not 20 klms away that has had a 62 beetle since new. went and checked it out and wow talk about time warp!! been in shed for many years,
covered in dust, NO rust and still registered with original black & white plates, 140,000 mls on the clock, paint is unblemished, even tailight
lenses havent faded, still has original tool kit & books. I havent bought it and a price has not been discussed but if the chap decides to sell
it, he will call me. then get told about a kombi ute 15 klms away so off I go, turns out its a 68 twincab with a bluddyV8 engine in it, havent
spoke to the owner yet, will see what happens, will try an load some pics of the beetle and the splitty cheers Frank

How do you guys find these cars? It's like a fairytale. I think I need to speak to more old people.
