*URGENT* Float Level *URGENT*
Does anyone know what the float level should be set to on a 31 PICT-3 on a 1600 SP engine?
Or know where I can find the info?
Quick replies would be very much appreciated as I need to get it sorted ASAP.

i DON'T THINK ITS A GREAT ISSUE..
place a washer under the needle and seat to lower the level
its usually a leaking needle and seat that causes the problem.
something that You should keep as a spare...
as they do wear out..
if it floods with one washer, add another washer under the needle and seat to lower the float level again..

PS: If You have renewed the fuel pump recently, thats usually the cause... too much pressure on the needle and seat.. Lee

I have revised the issue.
I did what Lee has suggested above. The fuel level was to high in the bowl.
Going to take it for a run and see if it fixes the problem. Was running like a dog before.

Yes,
too much fuel is nearly as bad as not enough...lol
when the bowl fills up it just overflows into the carby throat..
I hope it fixes the problem...

It helped to fix the problem.
The fuel level was wrong there's no doubt about that.
But the main problem was burnt points and incorrect timing.
I also screwed the idle screw in a bit and the mixture screw too.
Seems to be running a million times better.
I'll give it a proper run tomorrow with a short trip down to Brisbane

I ran My beetle VERY rich for a while...
goes Much better when its correct air/fuel ratio..
didn't go as good as it does now...
and used heaps of petrol...lol
funny as some points don't last..
may be the coil or condensor..
some cars just chew them up.. [burn them up]
even with new coil and condensor....

Mine burnt the points cause I had the ignition on a fair bit while I was wiring everything up and checking that it worked. If you have the ignition on
and the car not running you will burn points cause there is current constantly running through the system.
