A Start to the Notch

Well most of you may not know me as I am new on here, I have just brought a (i think) 1965 notch (as an impulse buy of course). so here it is.

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/14062010090.jpg

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/14062010094-1.jpg

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/14062010096.jpg

yes i have a slightly inquisitive dog

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/14062010091.jpg

And yes that is a hole in the floor pan you see, at the moment i'm am flinstone powered

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/15062010104.jpg

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/15062010102.jpg

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/15062010100.jpg

At the moment the only thing i have managed to do in the two days i have had it is to remove the seats, dash, instruments, having a fight with the steering wheel and removing the head and tail lights.

at the moment it seems my first step will to try and get the body separated from the half floorpan, any advice on this would be much appreciated :tu:

Good on ya mate for saving another type 3 notch .
My best advise for you at this time is to take plenty of pics so as to give you a good referal when you come to reassembly plus bag and label where all those little items come from because trust me , come 3 months time when you look in that great bucket of screws and bits and bolts etc you will be seriosly scratching your head as to where the whing wang came from and as nice as your dog looks , he or she won't be much help .

Thanks guys, does anybody know of anywhere on here that shows the removal of the body from the floor pan? seems i'll have no problem getting the right hand side off considering its held on by rope. I've found already that you're right andrew, so many little screws. Finn is just looking forward to the day he gets to ride in it for now he's claimed sleeping in it. Thanks empi do you know what all the individual weights on the plate are?

Well

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/Elanor/17062010108.jpg

Yes I am one of those people that enjoy getting wet and cold on the water for fun, today i had my fireball delivered while at school :spin:

After that was out of the way it was back to working on the notch

I. do admire how easy they have made it to take apart all in an hours good work

very surprisingly unless covered i haven't found that much filler and rust on the body, but the panels well that's a different story

Those front wheels look unique, not quite a stock style wheel I think??

That fireball (the boat) needs some TLC too or maybe a match?

Yeah the fireball is going to need a lot of TLC as does the notch and Tasmanian weather isn't helping at all... :td:

Well I haven"t done much this week apart from taking the fuel tank out and I have started to clean up the spare floor pan. Starting to build up a bit of a tool collection as I am new to this I started off with next to none, i wonder when my father will realise that his grinder has gone missing  . Still looking for a engine if any of you Tassie people have anything hiding that you want to sell I would be quite interested :)

Yeah i think that is the direction I am heading, i tested it out to see what it'd look like and those two colour look good on a notch i think. the only thing i wont be able to do is the rear indicators that wrap around as I don't have them :td:

Zach.

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/27062010131.jpg

Anybody have an idea on how to get this off? apart from having to cut it off.. it's fairly well rusted on.

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/27062010138.jpg

After a few hours with the grinder my spare floor pan is starting to look promising. Although i still may need to find another pan.

looking forward to getting more garage space with the move coming up

http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab203/ZachJW/27062010134.jpg

soon I should hopefully be able to remove the body and start repairs to the existing pan

more updates coming soon.
