maybe something to do with short and long axles???

Have a look at all the different lengths here and try and work out what you need

When trying to get H/B cables for my buggy I found that the "sleave" over the cable going into the drum was different on the car to the ones I had bought and just would not fit, an easy fix for me as I was getting them cut to suit the shortened pan I just cut the handbrake end and threaded the new cable through the old sleave, maybe the sleave length will tell you what cables you need.

There's also different lengths after 72 or 73 as the handbrake lever was moved backwards about an inch

I've got a new one waiting to go into my Lbug I'll get a measurement of it but from memory its the same length as my 74 1300 swingaxle beetles
