What rear torsion bar bushes to BUY?
HI
My Beetle is a 1968 German made semi auto beetle with chassis number: 118 714 109
VW311 511 245
VW311 511 246
VW111 511 245E
are three part numbers I've come up with...
[from somewhere?]
Someone with a 68 auto beetle sent Me an email or PM with 3 part numbers over a year ago...
that He had used....
could have been from the USA..?
so, which part number do I need two of???
I may have 4 nobby types... but are they different??

And do u bother to lube up the poly urethane in any way when fitting?

Urethane bushes Have to be lubricated as they do NOT twist
and they will wear out much quicker than the rubber ones that actually twist and don't need to be lubricated..
Probably rubber grease would be OK...
I prefer the rubber bushes and engine mounts rather than the almost solid Urethane items..
The Urethane bushes can be Very Difficult to fit too...
so I've been told...

after looking at the German parts catalog, but My Guessing what they are saying....??

Hi Lee
The inner ones are knobbly, 311511245 and 311511246 thats left & right. The outer ones are smooth and round on IRS bug.
You should also do the inner trailing arm pivot as well.
I've never worn out a set Urethane bushes, I lube them with Never Seize.
I lube the rubber ones with Talcum powder, fragrance to owners choice.

thats what I concluded too...
for M9 on the German parts catalog...
going by chassis numbers...
I was guessing that M9 may have been automatic beetles???
as no manual beetles had the IRS in 67-68 models..
[not years]
I'm going to buy two of each....
do You mean the pivot bush needs replacing??
My Son renewed those and they kept coming loose...!!!
the special bolt that is..
