Where can I find info on convoys to Valla?

Hi guys,

Anyone able to tell me where I can find details of convoys heading from NSW to Valla? I'll be in a beetle so only want to cruise up at a "placid" rate, between 90-100kmh or so.

Looking to leave Goulburn Friday morning - I'd love to head up sooner but work wont allow it. :fakesniff:

I'd be interested to hear of anyone else that might be travelling up about the same time, just not sure where to look for the details.

Thanks,

Kris.

I'm leaving here at Richmond sometime Friday morning. What time are you expecting to be at the start of the Freeway to the north? If you slow down a bit I may be able to keep up with you.

I was thinking of leaving Goulburn about 4 or 430am (brrrrrr - hope the beetle's 'heater' doesn't pack it in), which would put me on the M7 about 6.30am I guess. I'll probably realistically only sit on 55mph or so - don't want anything falling off along the way!!

Let me know what time you're leaving DH - might be able to cruise up together.

Thanks,

Kris

Goulburn to Hornsby is around 200km and 2 1/2 hours but that would be sitting on the speed limits up the Hume, M7 and M2 but you're leaving time would have joining the M7:M2 parking station if you get to Norwest Boulevard anywhere between 6am and around 8am! The bit of Pennant Hills Rd between M2 and the Newcastle Fwy is also crapp at that time of day.

Hornsby to Valla is most likely about 6 hours at "Bug Speed". Depends on what time you want to get to around Nambucca but maybe better to stay in the cot a bit longer at Goulburn so the Friday work traffic has cleared a bit.

How good is the Bug?? If it's reliable, the Putty Rd is an alternative with no traffic and join the Pacific at Hexham.

Have a think about the different ways. After 20 years of autos I don't like pedaling a manual in stop start traffic!!

Yep, I'm obviously not super familiar with Sydney traffic / bottlenecks - guess I might leave Goulburn a little later then and try and miss the guts of the traffic snarls. Don't want to be at Nambucca too early - just want to be there in time to get checked in and relac a bit b4 Saturday's festivities.

Don't really care what time actually - was just hoping to cruise up with some other dubs ...

Hopefully I'll catch some on the way and tag along ... safety in numbers and all that!

See if others come in and see what time is best. I'll join up but will most likely go through the bush to Berowra rather than battle the Sydney traffic and join the freeway there.

Don't have to take a sickie mate as I'm retired! although NSW TAFE has buggered me up by wanting me to work on Thursdays for the most of this term. Was thinking of saying no until I thought of the $$$$$$$ Pays for some of the filthy hobbies.

Hi

After travelling North many times I find it pays to get onto the F3 at around 5.00 am, otherwise you waste hours just getting to the start of the F3, getting stuck in traffic only makes the trip seem longer.

Might I also suggest if your travelling in a group, bring a hand held UHF radio, it makes it so much easier to communicate between cars

There's also a group of the usual suspects who leave Maccas Thornleigh at around 7:30 or 8:00, they stop a couple of time on the way up so you should be able to join in with them.

No - not Maccas - thats on the wrong side of the road - from the Shell service station on the left, just as you come to Heatherbrae - there is a good service road and area to meet.
