Fitting a bigger HP engine

Bought a 1961 KG on this site which is still 6V. Want to convert to 12V and also fit a higher HP engine.

I'm looking at a 2110 cc, do I need a stronger gearbox. If so, have looked at freeway flyer type boxes. Can these boxes be sourced in Oz or can I modify my existing box and where.

Thanks

hi norbert.

George from CVD will be selling rancho gearboxes soon, these boxes are used all through the u.s and have a good reputation. they selll the beefed up freeway fliers.

oh, one tip as far as 6v 2 12v, when the time comes to convert the windscreen wipers me and my dad have used a whole new armature (were the winds are attached) and it worked great

My guess is you would certainly want a different gear box to the 1200 one that would be there.
You would want to upgrade your brakes as well

A few people build boxes here - Dangerous is one here
