Case and Head bolts

I got a new set of Scat chomoly 8mm case and head bolts but now Im a bit confused as to the location of the bolts.

The kit I received appears to be right looking at the catalog pic.
9 Long bolts
4 short bolts
3 mid length bolts.

My problem is where the hell do they go

I think it should be :
8 long bolts along the bottom of the heads (4 each side)
4 short bolts in the middle of each head up the top (2 each side)
3 mid length bolts on the top of each head on the outside???
1 Long bolt on the top outside of a head but which one???

Its the extra long bolt where should it be and why not four mid length bolts if anyone has any idea I would appreciate the input as I want to get this together tomorrow.

Cheers

Hi

My memory is getting dim but one of the outer top studs, on #3 I think, the insert in the case is sunken in.

The extra long bolt goes in #3 top foward location. The later cases have a deep #3 stud that has the thread deeper in the case to prevent cracking or pulled threads.

Thanks guys, that would explain it, my case originally had 10mm bolts and had case savers installed when I had it machined but obviously the #3 forward bolt is not as deep as the cases that came out with the 8mm bolts factory, I am presuming it should still be ok to use the last long bolt here

Hi

You need to either have the insert sunken in to the correct depth or find a short stud.
