Parts for Auto gearbox - who would you try?

Hi!

I'm having the 010 Auto from my '78 Kombi rebuilt and I have been informed that I need a replacement Turbine Shaft (or outer shaft) and a replacement oil pump. I've already rung a couple of local businesses but have had no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions where or who might be able to help me locate these parts?

The van has been off the road for months now and I'm starting to go through withdrawl!

Please help... anyone?

Thanks Lee,

Spent a lot of time at Valla talking to people about the problem - had offers of a number of 2nd hand 010 boxes in various conditions (all supposed to be drivable) but no parts.

I have had a number of suggestions made about conversions/better options - but all of them need more time to research them (ie: does anyone know if the 010 Auto in the T3 Transporters have the same diff ratio as the earlier 010 autos?)

...I might start another thread in a few days with my many questions and see if we can 'un-mystify' the differences between the VW autos....

Try Laurie(Lawrey?) Svensen at German Auto.
He does them all the time.
Otherwise....
Track down Aaron of 20BKombi fame.
He gets on here once in a while and may be able to at least tell you where to look for parts.

The diff in a late bay auto is the same ratio as the T3 diff. I ran a Bay diff in my old T3 caravelle, exactly the same.

Thanks guys,

I have already spoken to Laurence at German Autos - he laughed when I told him what I was chasing and wished me luck in my quest :fakesniff:

I have also spoken to Aaron (20BKombi) - who lives within walking distance of my place - he suggested Laurence at German Autos too.....

Thanks for the feedback on the T3 diff... so the only advantage of running an 010 Auto from a T3 would be that it has ability to have an external cooler fitted?

Thanks again,

R :)

Thanks Andrew, Dave informed me of his plans to head up to CVD on Saturday when I spoke to him this morning. He knows exactly what I need, so fingers crossed.

Thanks
