VW Mechanic in Sydney for Blue-slip and possible engineers cert ??
Hey guys,
I need to get some quotes from a good VW mechanic in Sydney, someone that has experience working with mildly modified beetles preferably.
Because the car is being shipped interstate from SA to NSW I'll need a blueslip done, the car has a narrowed front beam and lowered rear end, all
shocks are still in place, so if the mechanic can do engineers certificates (should they be needed) that would be great.
Can any one suggest a good guy to go to for this ?
Cheers.. Ben.

I live in Camperdown. Am willing to go for a bit of a drive if I need too. Pretty sure I can get a permit from RTA to drive it to get the blueslip.

If you're willing to go for a decent drive, there's a fellow on the Central Coast for engineers report if you find you need one.
PM me and I can give you some details if you like.

Hey Marc,
Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping to find something a bit closer to home if I can.
If its any help to anyone.. Here is the list of things that the 57 needs to have done....
(Quoted from the guy I am buying it from)
-indicators to be wired - pretty much wires ran from each corner of car (bumper where indicaors are mounted) and connected to wiring at pillar where
semaphore wiring is.
-Headlights need to be re wired, the plug at the base is different to that on the car, or i could put in a late pair of headlights which would go
straight in (currently has 54 model bosch script headlights)
-accelerator cable is sticking, think its just tube that goes through fan housing is out of place.
-Needs rear engine bay tin, think this is only available second hand.
Cant remember if speedo works, but maybe put on list.
Ben.

No worries. Let me know if you can't find closer.
Not being a 50's bug expert I don't know about the wiring needs, but there's a place in the states that I've bought stuff from and I know they do
resto bits so you may be able to get new tinware.
http://www.chirco.com
I've always found they send what they say they'll send, are reasonably priced and prompt. Just beware of frieght if you're getting large or heavy
bits.
Good luck
Marc.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys,
I looked in the "business advertising" forum section on AVD and found Adam from RAW Auto werkz, (I think they are in Cambletown) I shot them a
message and they said they may be able to squeeze my car in between restos in a couple of weeks cause its a small job.. they also know a guy that can
do the Blueslip for me... great news!
I have heard great things about them, so hopefully that plays out for me and they can squeeze my car in.
Thanks again. Ben.

Also in the need of a blue slip - should I just try Lou's in Regents Park - or does anyone know of a VW friendly blue slip person if there is such a
thing - I really don't want to have to retro fit all the standard stuff to get it through! Any suggestions most appreciated. Terry

Lou is good value
Give him a call first and tell him you are coming and expect to be served - 9743 9997
He tends to get way-laid by passing traffic and you end up standing there

I use mike and Adam at RAW exclusively and highly recommend them. They prepared my Beetle for rego and organised the blue slip for me.
My beetle (Rosie) is going back in the next few weeks for some drop spindles

Heh.. Funny you mention them, I have my car booked in with Adam at Raw already, I got a call from the transport company this afternoon, my car is
already in Sydney (about a week faster than expected .. YAY!) and Will hopefully be delivered either tomorrow or Friday directly to Raw.
Feels funny having bought a car and never actually seen or driven it, cant wait to see it.

Perfect - thanks - how do they each go with things that are not quite standard - not that mine is too radical or anything - you know the standard
stuff.
EMPI 8 spokes, twin webbers, fat boy, 3 bar transmission fork thingo - ? Any ideas? Terry
