Tapered springs S Beetle.

I am nearly due for some new rubber up front and want to go a little wider than the 145's I am running now. I am kinda sick of the skittyness. I am pretty low up front on adjustables and run a 4.5'' T3 rim. et41 I think. The rubber sits really close to the springs so if I went wider rubber I recon they would rub. I am not that keen to use the stock 34et rims as it rubs the guards with 165's set at the ride height I like, been there done that.

Any one running those tapered style springs and how do they compare to stockers? Do any of our OZ suppliers sell them?
Cheers,Brad.

You should get away with stock springs

I had mine dropped 4.5" with stock springs and stock Lbug 4.5" et41 rims with 185/60s with no dramas
Thats with 3 bolt front end, same as yours
Would rub on full lock with 2 people in but that's par for the course with lowered cars anyway.

Check what the offset is, The type3 rims were et45, Lbug were et41 and the earlier 4" bug/sbug was et34

How'd I know you were going to chime in first mate. I am just going to skip this forum crap and pm you from now on

Yep, et 41's ,thought they were T3 not lates, good to know. The rubber seems awfully close to the springs atm with 145's, about 20mm gap to the spring. I just did a quick measure of a 165 and its about 10mm wider than the 145. So 10mm to spare. All good. I think I am going to raise the front up a notch too.
Cheers mate.
