Bringing a Beetle from New Zealand

I am moving to Melbourne in January from New Zealand to live. I own a 1961 Ragtop Beetle called Millly. Can anyone tell me the logistics of importing her. Some people have said it will cost me a fortune to have her made acceptable to drive here?
Any advice that would help me decide would be gratefully accepted.
Cheers
Andy

Why would it cost a lot drive here? Boat would be dryer LOL.

Is the car modified or defective?

Steve
