wiring up my 2 ltr?


anyone out there able to tell me what should be wired up to my coil on this 2 ltr I just installed into my 74 ute. runs really well (bloody well should) but it feels like its overheating the coil. just need to sort out what should be connected!

Do you have a VW workshop manual (Clymer, Gregory's, Bentley, Hanynes etc) ? They all have wiring diagrams.

got a few manuals, but they are all for 1600's. got it mostly sorted, just need to know how many terminals should be on the coil.

if the coil is getting hot it is prolly a 7volt coil (YES 7volt) designed to work with a ballast resistor,you need to add the extra wiring for that set up or get a 12volt coil

no its definately a 12v coil. says it on the coil body.
might try a GT40

ok then, do you have the polarity correct?,there is nothing else,12 v to the coil,thru the points to gnd thats it ,the only other thing to check is the charge voltage should be ~14v
