THE STIG SACKED !!!!

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson says outed Stig Ben Collins has been "sacked" from the popular motoring show.

The Formula 3 driver was revealed as the mystery white-suited driver after the BBC failed to stop him publishing his memoirs last week.

"It was such a shock," Clarkson told little-known English community news service WitneyTV.

"It was horrible actually because I liked him and he came around to my house and had drinks, and all the time he was writing a book, so I feel a bit hurt."

Clarkson hinted The Stig character may be dumped from the new BBC series, due to air later this year.

Collins took over the role in 2003 after a previous, black-clad Stig also revealed his identity in a book.

"Trust me, we have many, many thousands of people queuing up to be whatever it is that we create," Clarkson said.

"I've spent the last three weeks doing nothing but trying to figure out what we will do instead.

"Top Gear is damaged but not out," he added.

I think it's fair enough that a guy who spends his most public hours setting fastest times in supercars actually get the fame he earns, but in the end, who cares. Just get on with it. It was always gonna happen sooner or later. As for Clarkson feeling hurt, he gets to write his every opinion on any subject and collect the royalties so it's pretty hard to feel sorry for him.

Qu. why do people wear a disguise on tele?

An. so they can take it off and shock people

Everyone else is making a motsa out of the show by not doing much except being blabbermouths and he never gets to talk. He just wants his share. I don't agree with greed but I can understand his thinking. The BBC made a rod for their own back by setting it up like that. Course they are gonna take the helmet off and try and make some cash out of it!

I'm not saying I agree with him breaking contract or the desire behind it, but it's like the contract that australian idol people sign to say if they loose out they won't do anything using their name (ie. the name they made famous on A.I.) for X number of years afterwards.

If you give someone a chance to get topgear sort of famous, in most cases they don't care about the money and will grab at the chance. What would have been better was if they made it a 1 season contract and then interviewed the guy on the show at the end of the season. Easy way to disarm the trouble and keep em all honest. They could rehire some one 12 months later if they really liked them but it would stop the person feeling trapped behind the helmet and getting greedy.

Just remember, just coz something is enshrined in legal contract, that doesn't make it fair. I suspect that is why the BBC have lost the case if I understand it rightly.

For the next series perhaps they should get a female Stig - a 'Stigess'. From the way she fills out her racing suit, it would be a lot of fun to guess HER identity.

But on to the big question. Who was in the Humphrey B Bear suit?

Theres always people on the inside that leak the info out
I got linked to this vid nearly 2 years ago naming Collins and if you look at the vid it was uploaded jan 08 so over 2 1/2 years ago

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULva_21Vfxs

Exact same thing happened when Perry Mccarthy was leaked as being black stig

I did hear a rumour that Stewart Wagstaff was in the Humphrey suit in the 1960s.

Then there's Humphrey's mate, Fat Cat. A bit like Clark Kent and Superman, you never saw Humphrey and Fat Cat together. Maybe the same guy or girl did both?

That's Simon Reeve next to Fat Cat - he's still on TV now.

I think Ben Collins should be sacked for outing himself as the Stig. I didn't really care who he was and still don't, the point is he was supposed to be anonymous and mysterious and he isn't anymore. I now classify him in with the NRL guys who break contracts just to seek bigger paydays. What ever happened to loyalty and honoring contracts.

The questions is, who is going to read Ben Collins book? He's still a bit a nobody in my book and I'm sure there are loads more biographies I'd read before his. I think he has shot himself in the foot!

According to some fella in the Wired world of Sports, Humphrey is actually Eddie Maguire. Makes sense when you think about it.

Shoulda shot the prick!

As for the Stig.Maybe Jodie Kidd (top model and mad car racer) could do the job. She's fast and I hear she's campaigning a Porsche in the GT3 series sometimes.
