raising gearbox??
Hi guys, Just wondering about raising the gearbox 1" to get the rear of the beetle lower without the camber issues. It is strictly a strip car so
legality is no real issue.
the kits seem to come with a raised bolt in rear mount and a weld in mid mount... I'm wondering if thats all there really is to it, or is it a much
bigger job than it seems? also does anybody do a kit in australia? if so how much are they?
thanks
Mick.

I think there is a nosecone housing off a kombi gearbox or something that will line everything up on the shift rod? Other than that just the issue of
tinware not sealing, which doesn't sound like an issue for you.

an inch is not a lot. If you raised the rear mount by an inch or so and kept the stock rubber front mount, I'm reasonably confident the rubber could
take a few degrees of deflection. it'd be quick and dirty, but it should work.
your big dramas with engine raising actually come from the engine not the trans. you'll need to a find a way to seal the motor tin surrounds to the
engine bay again. coz otherwise the car will overheat... don't ask me how I know...
