I see it from both sides.
I operate a Restricted Hire Vehicle (RHV) Licensed by the Victorian Taxi Directorate. I pay for the vehicle hire accreditation and my drivers
certificate. This allows me to offer the vehicle for hire within the guidelines set by the VTD.
Offering a vehicle for hire or reward outside these guidelines is illegal. Doing weddings for family friends is not illegal, and never should be. It
is your car, and if it is registered, and you are licenced, then drive legally wherever you want. It is doing it for hire that is illegal.

So why don't they say that instead of lending Your car to friends for a wedding.... is illegal.??

Have you read one of the warning letters? It does not say that lending a car to friends for a wedding is illegal. Let's stick to the facts.
I know letting the truth get in the way of a good yarn can be counter-productive to story telling, but I think we are talking about real situations
here.

What evidence did the government has to believe that the car was used for hire ?
from what i gather it was just the photograph of the car being used for weddings

It's against the law to park your car on the side of the road, or on your own front yard with a 'for sale' sign on it too! Council bylaw...
$100 fine.

Apparently, they have changed the laws to import custom cars. Kinda sucks for those who wanted to take advantage of the strong dollar and wanted to
import a few VW's. Basically the cars need to be 95% original and rims on a car is considered %10 modified. I have heard storys from a few hot rod
friends that have heard of a few cars being sent back! Is Australia loosing its marbles?

nsw has stiffer fines than that of sa & read the road authorities stance & not the beatup by a journo
& family first polly.
Transport Department manager for passenger transport, Bill Gonis, said the letters were only to inform people what was legally allowed.
"It's a letter of warning and advising them if they want to speak to someone at the office we are more than happy to help them with any inquiry they
may have," he said.
"If they're simply just providing that service for a friend of theirs that's fine, that's the end of that. Again I just have to make that clear
that we're not prosecuting people who are simply driving their friends around.
"This is just really about ensuring public safety if some of these vehicles are going out, [ensuring] that some of these vehicles are roadworthy."

SA is a GREAT place to live, but after the Day of in Victoria I was at,man you guys got it going on over there with VW's. Awsome stuff.
Our faggot politicians however are dodgy backdooring cockheads. Rann needs a smack in the gob and I'd be happy to oblige.

That's the bit that concerns me the most. How much tax-payer's
money is being wasted on monitoring things such as this? We are paying huge amounts for 'Big Brother' to do this monitoring - and send out those
'warning' letters
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Like Helbus said there's 2 sides to this story.
Its not really fair on all the people that have paid good $$ setting up a buisness, getting all the licensing, insurance etc setup only to have Joe
blows uncles mothers brother take the work from them just cos he has a classic or exotic car in the garage when he didn't have to go through any of
the same bullshit.
Then there's the other side, a freind or family member gets married and you just do the nice thing for them.
I've done a few weddings and year 12 formals in my bug over the last 10 years for freinds just as a favour, yes I got paid but just a small amount to
cover my time and fuel, not the $150+ an hour these other guys probably charge.
I'd be pretty pissed if i got slogged with a fine just for helping freinds out. meh, waddya do
