H30/31 PICT CARBURETTOR PROBLEM
Hi All,
Just a quick question about a blocked passage between the accelerator pump diaphragm and the accelerator pump injector.
A friend of mine said he was having problems with his car idling. It would start, but when he come to accelerate or engage the clutch, it dies on
him.
We pulled the carby and when I pulled it down, there was a lot of pasty gunk in the bottom of the fuel bowl, and looks like there has been water in
there as there was corrosion powder in the fuel bowl and accelerator pump chamber. After soaking the carby and bits in carby cleaner over night and
blowing out all the jets and passages, putting a new carby kit through it and reassembling it, I wasn't able to get any fuel to pump out the injector
nozzle when I had filled the fuel bowl with fuel. I pulled the accelerator pump apart and blew air from the fuel bowl into the accelerator pump
chamber with no problem. The valve worked when I tried blowing it the other way. When I tried blowing from the acclerator pump chamber to the
injector, ther was nothing. The acclerator pump was working to the diaphragm as it was filling with fuel, but the fuel isn't getting to the
injector.
Anyone have ideas on how to pull the injector nozzle out or to clean out any debris in the passage between the accelerator pump chamber and acclerator
injector nozzle?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Norm
I have a few of those carbies all the same...
My original carby I left with petrol in it....
it turned into junk after a while...
and blocked the ball bearing valve [accelerator pump]
so the car idled all day..
but I could never drive it out of the carport.. lol

Thanks for the prompt responses guys.
Without damaging the nozzle, how can it be removed? I can get it to turn inside the brass fitting in the lower carb body, but I don't want to pull on
it too hard in case I bend the nozzle.

Pretty sure it has a slight taper and should just pull out like Pod said.
