62 bug with chrome & white "flash" up the side


Ive just bought a 62 bug with the chrome flash up the side (I think thats what theyre called"
its red in colour with the inside of the flash being white
are these rare? I'm thinking of using it for my type 82e kommanduer wagon

i wasnt considering selling it as I bought it to use for my next project. its got a couple spots of rust and faded paint good 1200.
if someone wants to swap me something similar?

The side flash was a dealer kit provided by VW Australasia. VWA provided the extra chrome trim, and the VW dealer would paint and fit before sale. Only the larger dealers (eg. Lanock Motors Sydney, Regent Motors Melbourne) could generally make the modification.

I don't remember any reference to Kommandeurwagens having a side flash though !! Perhaps in a lighter shade of khaki??

Yeah, its a piece of OZ VW history, restore it, or mabe pass it on to some one else. You will find another doner!
