do i need to move gearbox?

hi!
first i'd like to thank ye all for the great info posted on engine conversions-great website!
ye have inspired to sell me aircooled engine.i have bought a 2.0 turbo subaru forester '00(EJ20?),and plan to fit the engine to my '64 beetle.
it has a rancho pro street swingaxel gearbox, and i have ordered a Kennedy flywheel and adaptor plate already, but i am still unsure if i need to move the gearbox forward?and what is the best way to do this.would be great to know before i go any further.i would like to keep the bodywork as standard looking as possible.
i guess the info is probablly here already somewhere, but i haven't been able to find it.
thanks..

Problem you have is swing axles gearboxes cant be moved forward, only IRS because of the double jointed axles

This is a bit of a problem with turbo engines becuase they are all quad cam and here is a good example of how a quad cam engine fits in a bug with gearbox in stock position and the cutting needed:

check out the black STI powered bug in here somewhere,
the owner has left it swing axle but did some nice bodywork to cover up the timing belt covers

Take a look at this thread over on dune buggy archives. I put a spacer between the body and the pan that made for enough clearance on the cam covers.
