Degreasers ?????
im cleaning 40 years of! of! of! well i dont know what it could be, off the trani while i have the engine out and need to go and get some more
degreaser so i was wondering what people are using and the results you are getting. i have used the $2 cans with ok results but you really go thru the
stuff.

Yeah the $2 degreaser works well, one thing I found good when cleaning mine was either kerosene sprayed on from a spray bottle then used a nylon
scrubbing brush to remove the built up gunk. Took several applications but the engine and trans came up a treat. Other thing I used was truck wash,
not diluted as much as recommended about a 50/50 mix I used this after the kerosene to give it a wash so to speak. Does take a few goes but well worth
the effort.

car wash using the engine degrease. or buy the same stuff and use your own pressure washer.
Oh i found washing powder made into a paste works great left to soak for a while then just hoses off

I find a lot of the degreasers take the shine off some metals - especially polished (or at least shiny) alloy. I use kero - often with a pressure gun
on my compressor, but with a brush when I am working under the car etc.
The truck wash thing sounds like a good idea too.

Heavy built up grime needs to be removed with some hard, time consuming, elbo grease!! narrow scraper/wire brush and a good pair of goggles,
when the hard yards are done, only then, should you use a can or two of degreaser, one last trick, clamp some garden hose to your hot water system
pressure relief outlet pipe and get some one to flick the relief valve on whilst you have the garden hose trigger attachment pointed at that tranny or
motor. Presto, one very clean drivetrain!! oh make sure no one needs to use the shower any time soon

Hi
If Using the cheap cans of degreaser...
make sure its the foaming type....
works well.... but years of gunk won't just come off....
it needs to be scraped off...
but degreaser.. truck wash... or kero will all help...
once You have it clean its very easy to keep clean...
and don't forget to paint Your gearbox... lol
even if its with clear paint.... lol

but it says not to use on polished alloys....????
wax & wash wheels when washing the car... is easiest..

I use one of those spray bottles with the long nozzle on my compressor, works well even using soapy water so I guess a high pressure gun would be good
too

Try this its called Kenco Shift it followed by a good pressure wash.
Might need to scrape some of the hard stuff off with scraper or equivalent,but itl work

CHASSIS SHOCK. get it from UFC Chemicals in wollongong. Best degreser ever. No scraping no high pressure water. hose on wait 5-10 min then hose off.
