Can I make a suggestion on these. Instead of using the pins supplied, use these...
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o143/xornge666x/deckpins.gif

If you use the supplied ones on a car with decent paint, they will damage paint on the decklid, and the hoodjax if they are painted too.
You can buy these in the correct diameter from any bolt shop, maybe bunnings etc too.
Other than that I was very impressed, great product!

Yes,
Those lynch clips are much better than the "R" Clips...
which do scratch the paint....

I didn't think they [correct Lynch clips] were available in
Australia...
One of the locals uses them, but He bought the Lynch clips in the USA...
Some sizes of these clips are used in Power Take Off shafts on tractor implements.. PTO clips...

My Son uses VW dip sticks instead of "R" clips..

I bought a heap of them at the local bolt shop in Dandenong Vic, perfect fit, actually a little firmer than the R ones. EMPI and Bugpack sell them as "quick release pins" but they are available at a fastener shop. I think they were a whole $1.25ea. Though you can get them from EMPI etc for $15 or so!
I use them on std decklid also to get the lid out of the way to work around the engine easier...

Sorry Chris no, I ripped that of dans performance site when I was lookin for a pic of them.
I still have a box of them at my place, but might be a hassle to get someone to get them out.
Just measure the clip you have, and its slightly thicker. Measure the length and match it up. Just check amongst the various fasteners in Bunnings otherwise go to a bolt shop. I bought bulk from Economy Bolts in Dandy, but they keep the correct size on the shelf. I cant remember the sizes I bought them a few years ago!

Well, I've found Hood jacks to be 200% better than the alloy empi standoffs..
I tried all winter to get My engine lid aligned perfectly...
without success...

and my Son just bought a beetle with Hoodjacks which He gave to Me..

so Hood jacks it is....

Recommended for all beetles...
More Air, and cooler air is needed in the summer...

Hi

I bought a set for my daily driver 1303. I took it down to Canberra on the weekend and the motor ran very cool at extra fast highway speeds. Good investment.

I run hood jax on my turbo beetle. Haven't had any problems with overheating and the fact I can bet the deck lid off in seconds is a bonus.....:tu:

and no i'm not on commission.....
