Plz help me... designing Bonnet Interior.. need ideas!!

Hey pplz!

Im just going to carpet my whole vehicle.
My car (as seen in pic0 is convertible herbie and colour theme inside is red and royal blue!

The carpet is going to be navy blue and deep red marine carpet.

I saw some pplz post pics of how they created their interior, being a plywood slab over the fuel tank, hinged to a smaller wooden ocver that hinges as a firewall.

All this was then covered with carpet and an amp put on top

Im trying to re-find the pics so i can copy it but im interesting in the inside of the bonnet of pplz cars (generally ones that are carpetted, not just sprayed nicely)

Any help really appreciated!!!

From the factory they were lined with a sort of stiff cardboard. If I was going to line mine then my preference would just be to cut out a piece of carpet the right shape and just place it in there, possibly with some kind of underlay. No need for paneling underneath, and I wouldn't glue it either so that you have ready access to everything. You could possibly attach it using Velcro strips if you wanted to be fancy.

if you run a piece of straight tver on front of the fuel box and mount to the fenders either side it will give you something to mount your plywood to. Grab a large piece of cardboard like a fridge box... The make a template out of that try and go as wide as you can into the wheel arches but rember wood doesn't bend like cardboard. I did one piece for the big flat ocross the fuel tank and up to the wiring box. Carpet this individually then its easier to remove later. Then make a neat piece to go in front of the wiring and gauges I didn't have an air box so I wedged it inter the bonnet lip. Then you can also mount a price to go down the front of the wheel well be careful here as you may lose space for the wheel
