Will a fuel reserve tap fit a mid 60's beetle tank?


Ive done a search but had no result, just wanting to know if i was to fit a reserve tap to a mid 60's tank would it all line up for the handle to come through the fire wall? just want to be sure before i buy a new reserve tap only to find it doesnt match the tank thats in the 61?

yes it will fit as standard modles had them fitted as there was no fuel gauge

you will have to obtain the fuel tank outlet and the lever rod
also drill a hole in the fire wall and fita rubber grummet so it wont rattle

The 61 alreAdy has the factory hole for the handle, I was just under the assumption that 61's were ment to have 50's style fuel tanks but I on just found out the tank change over was somewhere in 1960. So it's got the right tank just not the tap so it should all line up, thanks for the reply tho vw54
