DIY Valve Adjustment - HELP!
Hey guys. I was wanting to do a valve adjustment on my 1975 1600 engine, and i was wandering if u guys could give me a more down to earth guide using
'DIY' terminology and maybe diagrams! Would benefit many members, cheers guys!

my sugestion for instructions is to find a copyt of the idiots manual (by john muir) and go from there. this is how i got into working on cars.
if you are worried about something, don't be afraid to recheck it or do it again if you aren't happy.
as for the feel when the feeler gauge slides through when the valves are set right (something that the book didn't explain that well IMHO).... i
can't explain it (honestly i din't even know if what i think is right, is right... oh well)
i know this isn't instructions but that is because i'll leave that to someone who is an expert. (or at least has written a book )

Volkwagen Beetle Step by Step Service Guide by Lindsay Porter & Dave Pollard is great. "The total guide to VW Beetle maintenance"
Breaks down maintenance into regular tasks eg every 500, 1500, 3000 miles and engine bay, electrical etc.
includes valves every 3000 miles (job 50)

I also started with the idiot guide, but it really frustrating to use if you have any ounce of mechanical ability, as Muir rambles on a lot. Whats
really needed for learning this stuff is a step by step guide of what to do.... which is pretty much what Rob and Dave have done on there web site.
It's not hard, just fiddly- good luck
