wiring loom from sub to T25
Hi All.
Having looked into a conversion and still looking into it i have been concerned about the difficulty of the wiring loom and all the bits cut off etc.
my question is (pardon the beginners inexperience for the foolhardy question)
why don't we lift out the complete subaru loom and use it to replace the vw one. Obviously there is a problem with reversed head and tail lights,
length from engine to headlights etc, but seems to me that lengthening a section in the middle and using existing lights and elect parts would work.
maybe even install the subie dash or at least the instruments and warning lights etc. I am sure they would at least be similar in number both lights
and pins.
Or is it just easier to cut the subie into the vw and put up with the odd warning light flashing on and off.
When you have all stopped choking and laughing, please tell me if this is too hard an ask. has anyone tried it?

The loom was the easiest part of my ej22 conversion,I had it done by others.

Hi Mark, first thing is to use the instrument panel...then just follow the wiring diagram and join everything up...pretty simple but lots of
soldering

You would not believe how overly complex Subaru electrical systems are.
The later VWs are still very basic by comparison.
Even very early ones like my 92 Liberty have a metric crap load of wiring, relays, fuseboxes and computers for various things like engine, gearbox,
cruise control, climate control etc.
And this wasnt even all of it, just the front half of the car.
Later ones get more and more complex as they started adding more features.
Even mine had a little computer just to control the interior lighting.
It's not hard or expensive for experts like AMAuto to isloate the engine related parts from it and send you a nice simple plug and play
arrangement.
Adding the dash cluster like Rob has isn't particularly difficult either, I was going to do the same, the hard part is making it look neat unless you
build a dash from scratch.
