KG Door Sill Rust
Hi,
Following is a photo of some rust bubbles in a KG sill which I am looking at buying. The paint is also discoloured which indicates this has been
repaired previously.
Other than running a magnet over this to see if it is full of bog, is there any way of telling whether this is a major problem? What would repairing
this typically involve?
Any assistance appreciated.

only way it to strip it back if you want to know the full extent of the repairs needed.

Its a KG they ALL have rusty sills. Strip back and assess...

KG's will rust on the sill panel under the guard panel that you took the photo of. It will be worse underneath if you were to open it up, but it's a
Ghia, all but the very best cars will have rust or been repaired in that area, and remember all repairs are not created equal.

The joining edge doesn't look horrible, it's not bulging out so I wouldn't think the worst at this stage. There will be rust but if worse comes to
worst then the replacement panels available are really quite cheap. If the paint is more than a few years old, eg not recently covered up with bog it
could be a 'lacey' sill, bit thin, a few holes but OK for now.
It's always best to consider the car as a whole, and if the owner will let you, pop off the door trim panels (only takes a few minutes) and look
inside, it will tell you all you need to know about the car. If they are rust, bog and if you're lucky, repair free, the car should be pretty honest.
Also, pop out the bottom of the rear seat (it just slips out) and have a good look at the inner structure of the car. Again, it will tell you a lot
about the real car underneath.

Thanks for the replies - I went and had a look and it looks much worse in the photos but car was about $5k over priced
