Spark plug leads?
I have ordered a SVDA dizzy with electric points from Aircooled.net and want to know, should I buy the standard Bosch wires or get some other
wires?
What do people recommend?
The motor is a stock rebuilt 1300cc S/P.

You can buy the original type of leads which are quite inexpensive from all the VW shops.
These are the wire type that use the resistor plug on the end of the wires that go to the plugs..
these are what was on the beetle engines originally...
You can of course buy any type of leads that fit Your beetle
the silcone leads that are available in different colors can break [inside] very easily , and do break down due to heat..

Just use the stock leads, HT leads etc havn't been shown to produce much difference anyway the stock ones are best because they have the right rubber
around the tinware etc...
I got some Beru ones from boris at vintage I've used el-cheapo blue ones, top gun leads (from Repco) and the stock ones are by far the best

The original leads have copper wire with no resistance at all
and the other types [silicone] have some resistance but not enough to hurt the spark ... everything being equal ..
I bought some Eagle ones on ebay NOS and they have excellent air seals on them...
I would like a set of spiral ones that are too expensive for Me
lol
also to stop Radio interference [VHF radio]...

PS: the VW-Bosch rotor button has a resistor built into it ,
also it can burn out , so a spare is good to carry...

Dont be fooled with copper leads, they were the bee's knees 20 years ago, but plug lead technology has come a long way since then. I use a modern NGK
lead with an inner spiral and have never had any problems. Though copper wont be worse i guess.

Yes,
the old copper leads are very basic...
but they still work great....
they don't burn out....
can only short out, same as most leads...
I would like a good set of spiral type leads but the ones I want are just too expensive... lol
