It can't be that hard. Who sells oil sump gaskets online?

As the title says; To suit a 1600.

I've searched here, Google, eBay and the ad banners around this site.

For such a common part it is unbelievable!

Sorry if it's a simple answer i'm just lost.

Thanks guys. I thought they would have been every where since we all need them. Thanks 1916. I'll keep that one in mind when I rebuild.
Making them seems easy enough but its probably not worth the hassle.

What does the gasket card cost?

Ian, that site is great. one of the better ones around. I'll probably get it from there.

If you're in Adelaide there are plenty of places which stock sump gasket kits. German Auto, that VSY/HSI place or whatever it's called, GHR Motors and Volksfactory, to name just the ones which I know personally. I'm sure other places could help you as well, like Cartek, Volkscare and others. We should all support those local VW shops which are still remaining, otherwise in a few years there will be none left at all! German Auto no longer tend to stock much for air-cooled cars but they did still have the sump gasket sets last time I was there.

Thanks for all the help. I didn't rind round Adelaide very much. I just assumed there would heaps of places selling them online.

Where do you guys get you old VW serviced in Radelaide. I heard GHR are alright. I called 2-3 places last friday and no one was interested. They said they only do newer models.

all vw parts shops sell them... Mick Motors - classic - etc

I always buy 10 or 20 when buying other parts [via post]
should be under $4 each kit...

[along with 10 tappet cover gaskets.. lol]
[new fan belts etc...]

includes the small copper washers and a new compressible sump plug washer...
they are more important than the gaskets... lol

part number 113 198 031 gasket set

LEE

remember to buy all VW parts from VW shops its much cheaper than the Other parts shops....

I have only ever done my own mechanical work at home, but by reputation and knowing people who work there, I would trust GHR, Volksfactory and Cartek. Fred Vella Tyres is the only place in Adelaide which I would take my VW to get a wheel alignment, John knows his stuff there.
