Thanks Bizarre..Dont know what the power delivery is like as I only drove it from the road to the shed..lol.The motor revs quick and freaked the wife a bit when she drove it off the trailer..Its very responsive and revs smooth..I know the motor had to be re-machined for a higher compression for the cam and heads set-up, as everything was new including case.I think the compression ratio and compufire system compliment the whole set-up and make it very responsive..I need to fix the rust around the front window and do Hoodlining and windows before we can hit the road..so it will be a little while till we can put some kilometres on it..cheers Jason.

Just a small update..The alternator loom has now been covered with a black heatproof sheath and cleaned up a bit where it terminates on the alternator, including the rubber boot for the Positive power feed. Also found a grommet for where the loom passes through the firewall.

http://i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss283/psirx7/engine3.jpg

Also i have redone the breather hose in stealth braided Aeroflow hose and fittings..Next is to replace the generic shit leads with custom MSD 8.5mm leads in red with wire seperators..then the engine bay will be as I wanted it..

Unfortunately the car wont be at the Day of the Volkswagen or on the road anytime soon.:( . We still need to respray the roof after removing the CB aerial hole on the roof and a little bit of rust around the front window.
Once thats done then the car gets a new hoodliner, front window and the side and rear windows go in with new seals with chrome trim.
Then I need to KBS Rust Bullet the floor and retrim the interior.
Once thats done the front beam will be fitted with the CB Performance spindles and have a 2" chop..then fit the Sprintstar wheels with 155 fronts and 205 rears..

THEN...the car will hit the road..Good things come to those who wait they say.The wife doesn't want to drive a half finished car she said!..

Ahaha that's fair enough!
I think I've been driving a 18th of a finished car for a while now... ;)

Sounds good though, you still coming out for the DOVW or not going to bother?

No crazy updates just yet. Today I bought all I need to make custom 8.5mm super conductor MSD leads for the Accufire setup. These MSD leads are available through CIP1 for standard dizzy placement but thanks to the direct fire setup I have the standard lead set just doesn't work for me anymore. Just have to wait till Monday for the lead crimpers as Outlaw Speed Shop ran out..

Only recieved the MSD crimping tool for the leads today so looks like tommorrows job will be making up the custom leads.
While at the shop we bought this mini Ultralite tacho 3"3/8..Just the right side to run under the dash, below the ashtray and keep an eye on revs without having to resort to a 5" sized tacho..It came with a shift light too just like a full-sized monster tacho.

Nothing much happening at the moment with the wifes Veedub..Waiting till the 23rd of April to take it to the crash shop again to get the Roof, A pillars and the front cowl area resprayed..but in the mean-time i am organising some rear suspension through Richard Holzl at VForce. Including 26mm rear bars, Bilstein Shocks and a stud kits for the wheels with 60 degree taper nuts just to make changing wheels that much easier.:tu:
It will be nice to have a well sorted ass end with matching performance shocks instead of dragging the phatboy muffler everywhere... Then next on the list is to get the front beam chopped 2" weld in a set of adjusters, fit the CB spindles and then finally fit up the Sprintstar wheels. "No driving and running in the motor until we have STANCE"..those are the wifes orders..

Today I recieved the Hoodlining, TMI Sunvisors and clips and a Clear Shift Pattern sticker to go on the soon to be repainted ashtray..Honestly forgot about these parts being ordered...

Atleast now when the CB aerial hole in the middle of the roof is welded up and the roof repainted, we can then fit up the new hoodlining, visors and then start to fit back all the windows with new seals..then we are ready to hit road to run the motor in.

On another note the rear suspension was order today from Richard at VForce..So 26mm bars, Monotube Bilsteins and bushes are on their way!..No more excessive squatting with a saggy bum!.:tu:

Thanks tar76..Looking back at the start of the thread the plan was to replace the motor and clean up the firewall "a bit"..lol but thanks to all the rust it snowballed out of control. It turned out better than expected to be honest..plus nothing will be better than someone coming up at a car show when we show it and say.."nice car mate"..to which my reply will be "its not my car, its the wifes"..:tu:. I dont mind having my project waiting in the shed while I work on her VW and to be honest I have thought of selling the Mazda at times and building a German-look bug..lol

I've just read the thread start to finish, great job and an amazing result, work remaining to do or not. Great photos too, but ....... I REALLY want to hear it. How about a video, just fire the beast up, let it quietly idle, if that's even possible, and then give it a few revs. I feel like some sort of deviate asking, but how about it.I know I'm not alone. My wife doesn't believe me anyway when I tell her "I'm on the forum" so let's have it ........ VW porn!!!

Again great story to follow and look forward to seeing the end, if there ever is, result.

Well good news is the car is finally registered again after over 7 years and the wife and I have started to put some kays on the motor.Unfortunately the rear brakes are in need of an overhaul thanks to 7 years of sitting. The rear drums are dragging and the further we drive..the worse its gets.So tommorrow the cars going to GHRs for some rear brake loving.Super impressed with the 1916cc combo..Its a grunty little combo thats suprised even me ..super responsive and low down torque.
