Building a good gearbox

So what does it cost to fit a IRS type 3 box with albins goodies? Perhaps a better question would be, what does it cost to modify a box to handle the torque of a turbo and 200suby horses. At the moment I'm considering a Rancho street pro taking in mind to still be careful with it on launching.

Ring Mikie at Custom Bugs and Busses, he built my gear box and it handles two hundred plus hp and gets punished on the drag strip (02) 47229313.

Wow - no Subie box for you?

I'd be interested to know how much a type 3 box with Albins goodies would be too, or a Rancho pro street box.

Yep, Albins (Weddle in the US) gears are a must for building a strong Gbox.

The Rancho is about $1500 here. . The reversed suby box is double that but a great option. . With Albins I guess you can choose your ratios - longer first would be good I reckon.

albins gears & peloquin diff in an 091 with L&D intermediate to return to a beetle style shifter linkage, RJES bellhousing to bolt to an ej2* -you would save money going the subiegears option put it that way, that said it would be interesting to do back to back tests of both for longevity but thats near impossible
