1971 Superbug Convertible
1600cc Manual

Restored 4 years ago

Work carried out during and after restoration:

Rust repaired and new panels welded in place
New brake discs, calipers, drums, master cylinder - a Complete overhaul of the car's breaks has been done to make sure it is safe to drive and can pull up if required.
Car resprayed in Subaru Blue (paint is average as done at home, but really good starting point if a respray is desired as all panel work is already done)
New Blue Canvas Roof, custom made to fit the car
New upholstery throughout, seats and door panels done in a bone/off white with blue trim, new carpet kit installed.
New Seat belts
Good quality Heater Exchanges installed and J-bars removed, to put a heater back in the car that makes it comfortable to drive in winter.
Original Left hand rear view mirror added ( did not come standard on the car but good to remove blind spots and for parking)
Stainless steel running boards
Stainless steel engine firewall
New steering wheel (see photo)
CD player and speakers added, old tape-deck removed.
Front ball joints, bushes and tierod replaced last year
4 new tyres start of this year
Car is currently registered and the rego is due in November

This car was purchased when I was 15 years old as a project car with my father, two years of work went into it and over $7500 of parts alone, not including labor, to get it ready for when I got my P's at 17. It been my daily driver for the past three years, through summer and winter as the heaters work unbelievably well. So reliable I used to drive it to deliver Pizza when I worked at the local Italian restaurant. Always getting looks, specially with the roof down.
It is a delight to drive and always put a smile on my face whenever I got in it, however I have just completed my newest project (another beetle) and has been registered this week, so no more room or money to pay for 2 regos.
