Gear selector alignment

I've just installed a rancho gearbox and all went well until coupling the gear selector shafts together.

The rancho box selector shaft seems to have the divots drilled on a slight angle from my old gearbox. As a result, the gear shifter shaft is on a angle rather than being straight on. I can select the forward gears but no chance of getting close to reverse.
Is there a easy solution to this problem? By the way this is a 1970 fastback type 3.
I was thinking perhaps the shaft can be pulled out and angle adjusted or is it solid all the way through?

The pic shows the selector against 3/4th gear - neutral is even further around.

Personally, I would remove the selector housing and replace the selector shaft (hockey stick) with the one out of your original gearbox (if you still have it).

YIKES>>>>

the shaft is one piece...

but probably the easiest way would be to cut realign and reweld the shaft...

maybe at the rear end???

The shaft is hollow. Unless you are a very good welder, fit a small piece of tubing inside the shaft when you weld it.
