Body Removal - HELP!
I am attempting to remove the body from the pan of my standard beetle. all electricals etc + steering column have been removed or disonnected. I have
so far removed:
- 2 x bolts on top of the beam
- 4 x 17mm bolts (2 each side) that go into the framehead
- 18 bolts (9 each side) that run under each side
- 4 bolts that run across under the back seat
- 2 bolts near the rear shocks
Are there any others?
And should the body now lift off as it still seems fairly stuck to the pan.
Any help advice eagerly accepted as I am supposed to be loading the bosy onto a trailer tomorrow to go to Advanced Soda Blasing on Saturday.

Brake resovoir line to the master cylinder
Electrical wires through the fire wall from starter motor
fuel line through the fire wall
wires to master cylinder brake switch
disconnect wireing from loom to engine etc

Yep all that stuff has been disconnected or removed. is theer anything else I have missed or is it just that 35 years of mating has resulting in some
bonding?

I just found this article that is for a super, but from what I can gather is reasonably similar to a standard, but still doesn't explain why my body
and pan doen't want to part ways.

I was afraid of something like that.
If I put the bumper brackets on and jack up the car using them, do you think it will separate?

Most likely, although worst case is while under load with your jack on the rear bumper brackets, a pry bar on the shock tower to body against the
strong steel mount should do the trick.

Ok Matt you were right. We jacked up the car using the rear bumper brackets and had someone stand on the rear wheels.
Ended up being less drama and swearing than I expected.
Off to the soda blaster tomorrow!
