great pic...
The VW factory closed down in late 60's and was taken over
VW Australia was back then Volkswagen Australasia Pty Ltd
seats were standard like that in 1961 DELUXE beetle
was Your beetle made in Western Germany?
[Russians had control of Eastern Germany]
sounds like you had most accessories...
I cannot remember many VWs having any special accessories
at all.... most seem to be sold.. maybe to a price??
Phil on Here will soon tell You any info as He seems to be the only one who knows about these things...
I would presume areas like You mentioned would have had a VW dealership... they were everywhere... lol
cheers

I drove a Beetle [just like the one in your photo] in the 1963 Armstrong 500 at Bathurst for the local VW dealer. Macquarie Motors was their trading
name, and Rex Ellis was the proprietor.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Yes, I have compiled a spreadsheet of Australian VW dealers, from 1954 to the present day. Still
missing a few details for other states, but for NSW it's pretty much complete. The info comes from collecting the Owners' Guides and dealer booklets
from as many years as possible. The '80s are where the gaps are.
Anyway, here are the old VW dealers for the three major NSW towns you mentioned:
BATHURST
Macquarie Motors Pty Ltd, 128 Russell St. 1955 to 1966.
Inwood Motors Pty Ltd, cnr William & Keppel Sts. 1966 to 1985 (?)
ORANGE
Norm Campbell Pty Ltd, 80-84 Bathurst St. 1958 to 1973.
Orange City Motors, 36 Bathurst Rd. 1974 to 1976.
H. Lapham and Son, 63 Molong Rd. 1978 to 1985 (?)
West Orange Motors, 32 Forbes Rd. 2002 to present.
PARKES
R.R. Nock Pty Ltd, 25 Church St. 1955 to 1973.
Jack Broderick Machinery Pty Ltd, Peak Hill Rd. 1978 to 1983 (?)
My Dad bought his Beetle new from R.R. Nock in Parkes in 1959, when he was teaching Industrial Arts at Parkes High School. In 1964-65 VW had over 330
authorized VW agencies in Australia (none of which are still VW dealers today). In 2011 there are about 80 new ones. Yes it would be interesting to
see what is at these sites nowadays, but as Dave said there won't be lost stashes of NOS parts in the roof (much as we might fantasize).
BTW, today's VW Group Australia has only existed since 2001. They have no information on any Australian history prior to that.

I don't have anything for the others but here's an ad for Norm Campbell of Orange, from a NSW VW Club magazine from 1956.
One thing to try (if you're in the area) would be to go to the Bathurst, Orange or Parkes Libraries and look in the microfiche of the local
newspapers of the late '50s and early '60s. I've done that for some Sydney local papers and found some fabulous old VW dealer ads.

there was a country pack in 60s...
mudflaps and stone guards and stoneguards under all the mudguards... pieces of sheet metal to stop stone chips from going thru from underneath to
chip paint ..
which was common on country road cars..
roughly they were 50cms long and went from the outer guard to the body...
I have 40mm thick PVE foam [yoga mat] under all My guards to stop any stone chips..
its very tough stuff.. waterproof.. etc..
