having troubles with my indicators


hi im having trouble with my 57 beetle indicators they use to always blow fuses and now it not blowing fuses but just not working befor i had to move the indicator stick down a couple of mm if i moved it anymore the left indicator didnt work and the right one did but sometime you had to hold it the or it would just move back to the natural place

any help much appreciated

can you remove the colume box it sounds like you have a short somewhere in there and see if the auto of switch is in the right place

sounds like an earth problem...

or the actual switch isn't working ??

if it was blowing fuses then its most likely short circuit somewhere.. most likely in the switch itself??

loose connection???

blinkers were pretty basic in early beetles..

yeah i could remove the colume box like i can loosen it by hand and ill have a look if its not raining tomorrow and where is the auto switch?

With the steer wheel off you'll see a lug on the back of it. This hits a tab that sticks out of the indicator switch on the inside so that when the wheel is turned the lug hits the tab and turns the indicator off.
