Hey stoppa, top looking rod mate !!!
Is it rego'd in WA like the plates say ? If you did rego it here, do you mind if I ask how you went getting it approved with the chop top, suicides
and bicycle guards ? Also, how much of an engine cover did they make you put on it ?
Really clean looking beast, well put together !

mate, can u expand on this, only as maybe the info i am getting is up shit creek. I have been told following, beam extension needs to be made by
certified welder, ie can sign off on it, has full tickets etc, that needs to then be xrayed, technically then you can have issues as its extended, and
they need to test car rigidity etc....rear, well i have drop plates and engine tranny lift, so that needs engineering also. Roof chop most comply also
to visibility test. as car is now modded you need retractable seat belts to meet rod rego guidlines. I have bomber seats, these too need full
covering, list kinda goes on. If you are willing can you share some info, as maybe im getting incorrect advice, and this is just for club rego, not
full, ive been told forget about full rego in vic on a volksrod....please see in other thread i was under impression that no legal cars existed, but
that was cleared up by some of the other guys here. cheers

i dont know if i can help much ,here in perth we cant go under the guide lines of street rod rgo fullstop
i first had the car engineered in nsw easy, went to an egineer told him what i wanted to build, this what he said
car must be pre 1972 to allow the following
roofchop ok
remove gaurds replace with cycle gaurds ok
suicide doors ok
bolt on beam ext a big no/cut and extend thats fine
the same here in perth car was re engineered here by dan pitic
as far as i was told by engineer in nsw was that what i did to my car i could get it regersted in any stae in aus.
look a bolt on ext will set u back aprox $300 bucks landed then the drama and expense of finding a engineer to aprove it and then maybe pay for xray
.
my beam ext cost $30 bucks in metal one free panhead and one day cut and weld less than 6 hours work
i wish u all the best and hope u get it on the road, keep up the good work{,volksrods the peoples rod}. Brock

Did you use the whole roof clip out of the 121 or just the sunroof and rails?

Thats a great idea! I've been looking for a ragtop for a while, but never thought to use something else.
Can't imagine it being easier to find than a Beetle one though.
