Reproduction or original?

The more common shaped one or are you interested in something different?

Repro kits are available in melbourne at I believe $550
and also out of Argentina - advertised on 'the samba'

I have a the set that has the aluminum insert in it as well - will try and find a reference pic
Suits late 50's bug onwards - non ice pick handles on...

Cheers Ben

from another thread...

Aussie Flash Kit

available as a repro item made in indonesian or thailand I think? - bought into the country by Gary Collis at Wolfsburg Automotive in VIC about $550 a set from memory.... and not 100% faithful to the original width, but still a good alternative.

Original sets sell anywhere between $200-800ish dollars depending condition and also required different/bigger retaining clips that the standard trim.

here are some examples of the options, including the one with an aluminum insert that sits behind the trim.... very cool... (5th picture down)

So they're stick on, and they're $450?
That seems a little crazy to me.
I'd love flash trim, but that's damn expensive

Got a set, will be for sale later this year. Already promised to someone but they might change their minds.
I don't see how original ones will be stick on? Black bug, $450 is cheap.

Original ones aren't stick on, that's my point.
The repro ones say no drilling required.

i'm fairly sure they have the same section etc as the og ones and either come or can be ordered with clips.

the no holes thing is just a selling point, the normal trim "can" be stuck on too. :)

Kinda sad really.

It's just a couple of bucks worth of body trim strips, it's not like they are hand carved out of petrified unicorn shit and gold plated.

That's the downside of something becoming a passing fad, A few patina barn find bugs had them a couple of years back so suddenly every bug has to have one especially in the US where it's trendy to have something different from here like 50/50 tail lights.

My big regret is not saving the couple of sets that went for scrap when Sims cleaned out the local VW graveyard here a while back.
